Group laments renewed attacks by boko haram in Chibok
…As countless number of girls have been abducted
By Wumi Tewogbade, ABUJA
Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA), on Tuesday raised alarm over renew attacks of Boko Haram and bandits in Kibaku area in Chibok local government, Borno state.
The National President, of KADA, Dauda Iliya, revealed at a press conference in Abuja.
Iliya said it is imperative for the presence of security to be increased in the area.
Iliya said, “2025 started off with terrorist attacks in Chibok right from the new year day on the 1 st of January, 2025. Between the new year day and 19th of January, 2025, eight communities were attacked namely: Njilang Bamzir, Shikarki (Twice), Yimirmugza, Takulashi, Ntsiha A, and B and Bwalagyang.
“From 31 st January to 3 rd February, two attacks on two villages namely: Tsathla, Kwarahuma. All these attacks recorded major losses of lives & properties (houses, crop barns, livestock, other food stuffs/farm harvests, Churches and many other valuables).
“These attacks have resulted in huge displacements of the Kibaku (Chibok) people from their homestead leading to the overcrowding of Chibok town by the re tant refugees! The attacked villages are now mere ghost town.
He said when the attacks were too much, the Kibaku communities had to result to fasting and prayers.
He lamented, “The renewed and relentless Scorched Earth nature of the terrorists’ attacks on Chibok Communities in this month of November 2025.
“These November attacks have been like no other before, starting in the most battered of all, Shikarkir village on 1 st November. The attackers came back to Shikarkir again twelve days later to abduct eight young girls!
“These November attacks have been visited upon Chibok settlements even beyond the borders of Borno state such as Dagwaba in neighboring Adamawa State. Other villages attacked this month include: Kwaple (a total of seven attacks in 2025 alone) and Kautikari only a day after the mayhem in Shikarkir”.
He noted, that Kibaku (Chibok) people are the main victims of the escalating terrorism in Chibok Local Government Area and beyond and the perpetrators are Boko Haram Terrorists are responsible for these attacks .
“To further exacerbate the issues,
Borno State Government is clearly unwilling or unable to assist Chibok LGA as regards these attacks. Besides the lack of basic social infrastructure, the BOSG fails to do it’s primary duty to the
Kibaku people (which is security) by simply looking the other way face of these vicious attacks; even palliatives and refugee mp support/management is not available to the displaced Kibaku people”.
He also accused Borno State Government of not allowing Chibok to be opened up for mass media coverage and restricting international humanitarian actors from having access to Chibok.
“Boko Haram Terrorists are known to be imposing all manner of taxes in some Chibok communities: example, Kwaranglum wardt where a whole ward is now left to terrorists as a government within the Nigerian State
“Economic/Harvest season; these local communities are bringing in their harvests and the terrorists are carting them away and setting ablaze the remaining to inflict suffering on the people
(scorched earth) and displace them from their communities”.

DSS Dissatisfied with Life Sentence handed Ansaru Commanders: To appeal sentence
By Nick Ibe, Abuja
DSS is prepared to appeal to achieve death penalty for the two Ansaru terrorist group commanders given life sentences in Abuja were given by Emeka Nwite. The were sentenced on Monday after they pleaded guilty to a 32-count terrorism charge.
The convicts: Mahmud Usman, also known as Abu Bara’a/Abbas/Mukhtar, described as the self-styled Emir of Ansaru, and Mahmud al-Nigeri (a.k.a Malam Mamuda), his deputy and chief of staff.
The judge handed down the sentence after the convicts changed their plea from not guilty to guilty and, through their lawyer, appealed for leniency.
A senior DSS official, speaking after the judgement, said the agency considers the punishment inadequate given the gravity of the offences.
According to the official, the two men had initially indicated they would plead guilty but later changed their position around the period pupils and teachers were abducted in Oriire LGA of Oyo state by suspected members of the same group.
“For the nearly 60 days the kidnappers held on to the pupils and teachers of Oriire, the Ansaru commanders in our custody changed,” the official said.
“One of the top conditions the abductors gave was the unconditional release of these same Ansaru commanders in exchange for the Oriire kidnap victims.”
The DSS official said the defendants, who had earlier pleaded not guilty, later told the court they were undecided on the plea they intended to enter.
“Justice Nwite even had to hand them an ultimatum to make up their minds on or before Monday’s sitting.
“After the Oriire rescue, they came to court to plead guilty to all the charges.
“Allowing the two terror commanders walk away with life sentences will not serve the cause of justice for the two Oriire teachers beheaded by their abductors.
“The reason the terrorists beheaded the two Oriire teacher’s was to put pressure on government to release these two Ansaru commanders.
“It, therefore, wouldn’t be fair to see two men beheaded and their families are made to live with the losses without adequately bringing the culprits to book.”
